Use Twitter to help diagnose corn diseases

Corn growers nationwide can use their Twitter accounts to help diagnose corn diseases.

Nathan Kleczewski, Plant Pathologist at the University of Illinois tells Brownfield pictures of corn disease symptoms can be posted along with twitter handles.

“You can tag myself at @ILplantdoc and you can also tag @corndiseases , that will send the picture out to myself and a bunch of other plant pathologists.”

Once the photos are posted, experts will study the images and provide feedback to growers on how to diagnose or treat the disease.

This tool also helps track and map diseases across the country such as southern rust.
