Valero finalizes purchase of Albert City,Iowa plant

According to DTN, Valero Energy has finalized its purchase of the Albert City, Iowa ethanol plant from VeraSun. Valero spokesman Bill Day says anagreement to buy one remaining plant, in Albion, Nebraska, will likely be finalized in the next couple of weeks.

Day says Valero will take about a month to restart the Albert City plant after it takes ownership. And he says the Albion plant will also take about a month torestart after Valero begins to operate it.

In total, Valero is purchasing seven of VeraSun’s ethanol plants and the right to build an eighth.
