Vive’s Bifender SM expands in-season soil insect control

Vive Crop Protection has announced a new soil-applied insecticide that gives corn growers an in-season option for managing insect pressure.
Vive lead agronomist George Huckabay says Bifender SM places protection directly where soil pests are feeding.
“A lot of products on the market right now are only in-furrow, only at-planting products. This actually allows the growers that if they missed the planting window, they can always wait in-season to come back with Bifender SM.”
He tells Brownfield it can significantly reduce corn rootworm injury.
“They’ve got some genetic traits that are not working as well, some of the insecticides not working as well, and there’s just a lot of issues going on. So right now, (corn rootworm) is one of the biggest issues especially for guys that are corn-on-corn or continuous corn.”
Huckabay says Bifender SM is currently registered for use on corn and a variety of row and specialty crops.
