Voice of Milk represents three groups on common issues

A new brand has been launched to serve three dairy organizations that often work together.   Laura Hensley tells Brownfield Edge Dairy Farmer Cooperative, Minnesota Milk Producers, and the Dairy Business Association will be known as The Voice of Milk on joint projects. “The three have been working together on some mutual policy, some shared services model between the organizations, and we said, you know, how can we better showcase what we’re doing together? So, welcome to the Voice of Milk.”

Hensley says the three groups will still operate as independent organizations. “By pulling us together under what we’re calling the umbrella brand of the Voice of Milk, we now have more power and more leverage when we go out and talk on behalf of our dairy farmer members.”

Hensley says there are times when all three organizations are aligned on the same area of focus, and Voice of Milk lets them speak on behalf of the entire group of farmer members at once.

Hensley says Edge Dairy Farmer Cooperative will still be a federal policy and verification cooperative.  Minnesota Milk will continue to work with Minnesota state policy issues, and the Dairy Business Association will continue to work on Wisconsin state policy issues.

Hensley spoke to Brownfield during World Dairy Expo in Madison, Wisconsin.
