Wayne County backyard poultry HPAI positive

The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has confirmed highly pathogenic avian influenza for the first time in Wayne County.

The backyard flock testing positive for the virus is the fourth case in the state reported since the beginning of the year.

In the last 30 days, the USDA says 54 commercial flocks in the U.S. have tested positive for the virus and more than 12 million birds have been affected.
