Weaker U.S. dollar expected in 2024

The lead grain and oilseeds economist with CoBank says the value of the U.S. dollar is expected to weaken in the New Year.

Tanner Ehmke tells Brownfield the Federal Reserve is expected to lower interest rates multiple times.

“That’s going to be bearish on the value of the dollar, putting a stronger floor on call commodity prices.”

He says that would be a turnaround from this year and could be a positive for U.S. agricultural exports. The U.S. dollar has been strong in 2023 and a negative factor for commodity prices.
