Weather slowing down deliveries
Spring weather is preventing many producers from taking delivery of spring inputs.
Paul Kwiatkowski with Jaymar in central Wisconsin tells Brownfield most fertilizer and seed orders are in. “Everything is ready to go if we can get the weather to cooperate.”
Kwiatkowski says the recent snow and rain has kept the seed and fertilizer trucks parked. “We don’t even have any deliveries as of yet. It is just too wet. The storms are spaced out perfectly so when it gets to the point where you can do something, it snows or rains or both. Now, with this ice, it’s even worse.”
Kwiatkowski says most of their customers have already prepaid for inputs, and the producers holding out for better fertilizer prices probably missed the best opportunity. “It’s too late for some. Potash is still increasing. The price just increased again late last week.”
Kwiatkowski spoke to Brownfield during the WPS Farm Show in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
