West central Indiana farmer not backing off on inputs in 2025
A west central Indiana farmer says he’s not backing off on inputs in 2025.
Kevin Cox says he’s not willing to take the risk.
“We typically don’t play that game,” he says. “Generally, we’ve got a plan and we kind of work around with that every year. Whenever we’ve got an economy like this, the last thing I want to do is do anything that would hinder us from having the very best crop that we can.”
But, he tells Brownfield he understands why some growers are making cuts.
“I have been hearing lots of talk about people cutting way back on fertilizer this year and usage,” he says. “I’ve never been one to back off on fertility, so we hit that with a regular program like we would any year and we’re optimistic about being able to produce a good crop.”
Cox raises corn and soybeans in Parke County.
