West-central Minnesota farmer weathers recent storms well

A farmer in west-central Minnesota says they’ve been fortunate so far with severe weather.

Jamie Beyer and her husband grow corn, soybeans, sugarbeets, and alfalfa near Wheaton.

“Things are looking pretty good. We were happy to miss some of the storm damage, it kind of came through Hoffman. But the crops are still pretty short, so we’re okay. It’s always good to miss hail and that sort of thing.”

She tells Brownfield there were a couple downpours recently.

“We had gotten some 2 to 3 inch puddles of rain here in some spots, but the crop is little enough that I think we’re going to be okay without too much damage.”

Beyer says they finished applying herbicide earlier this month.
