What’s the crop price outlook for 2025?
The chief economist for Indiana Farm Bureau says declines in commodity prices are causing farmer concerns.
Todd Davis says the increase in production in 2024 didn’t offset lower prices.
“Prices are down over $2.00 a bushel for corn and over $4.00 a bushel for soybeans from where they were two years ago. And of course, costs haven’t come down,” he says.
He tells Brownfield crop production adds pressure to U.S. prices.
“We have to think about North American production and South American production,” he says. “Anytime they have a production problem in South America that will create better opportunities for exports in North America.”
Davis says farmers should look for a rebound in prices for potential marketing opportunities in the new year.
