White House hosts meeting with farm groups
The White House is hosting a meeting with select ag groups today.
Iowa Farm Bureau president Brent Johnson tells Brownfield AFBF president Zippy Duvall will be there pushing for completion of the farm bill.
“We’ve been very consistent in the priorities of where Farm Bureau sees the titles of the farm bill, and largely those are intact and ready to go in the conversations that we’re having.”
He says that includes crop insurance and Title One programs, but not a solution for Proposition 12.
“When the House Ag Committee passed their version (it) had some language in there to help with interstate commerce, and I think that’s an important aspect that needs to remain in the farm bill.”
Members of the Biden administration including Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack and chief ag trade negotiator Doug McKalip are expected to speak at today’s White House meeting.
