White House meeting includes update on Mexico GM-corn dispute
Minnesota’s ag commissioner says the Biden administration is expecting a panel decision on Mexico’s decree banning GM-corn imports soon.
“They expect a decision is imminent.”
Thom Petersen tells Brownfield “I think there will be lots of action on this in the next month and some announcements coming soon with Mexico’s new president in place. I’m also going to be in Washington D.C. at the end of the month with fellow commissioners, our Mexican and Canadian counterparts for the Tri-National Accord.”
Petersen was one of several state ag directors who attended an ag event with administration officials like Chief Ag Negotiator Doug McKalip at the White House on Tuesday.
He says ag directors from Kansas, Maine, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin also attended the event.
