Wisconsin ag bills get floor votes Wednesday
Three pieces of legislation farmers are watching closely had votes at the Wisconsin Capitol on Wednesday.
In the Senate, Senate Bill 622 freezing fees for animal markets, dealers, truckers, and transport vehicles passed by a 22-11 margin and has been sent to the State Assembly for consideration.
In the Assembly, AB554, the bill that would require labeling of lab-grown animal cells was passed with minor language changes recommended by the Senate, and sent back to the Senate for approval.
The Senate also voted on SB665 establishing a wolf population goal and sent that to the Assembly for consideration.
Wisconsin’s ag coalition is optimistic that these bills and others will be enacted by the Governor before the end of the legislative session.
