Wisconsin county group exposes students to ag career opportunities

A Wisconsin county is giving middle school students a chance to explore career paths in agriculture.

The Kewaunee County Economic Development Corporation is working with Ebert Enterprises, a dairy and crop farm, to show students about agronomy, cropping, horticulture, animal nutrition, milk testing, cheese making, agriculture support services, technology, and the business of agriculture.

Ag Career Days began in 2012, and is held every other year, bringing in more than 900 students from five school districts and several parochial and home-school students.  The program is offered to middle school students so they can tailor their high school coursework towards an ag career path.

The event is Tuesday and Wednesday, and involves students from the Algoma, Denmark, Kewaunee, Luxemburg-Casco and Southern Door school districts.

Ebert Enterprises milks nearly three thousand cows and grows their own feed.  They also hosted the 2017 Wisconsin Farm Technology Days event.
