Wisconsin FFA President says his term is going fast
Wisconsin’s FFA State President says his term in office has been a whirlwind so far, and he’s enjoying it.
Jescey Thompson from the Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau school district is about 2/3rds finished with his term and tells Brownfield his biggest goal for the balance of his term is to keep serving members, chapters, and communities. “Travel to different events, work with FFA members, work with corporate partners, more than I ever have before. I want to be on the road. I want to be connecting with people every day that I can because the time is limited and like I said, time flies, and I’m excited to make every moment matter.”
Thompson says in Wisconsin, one of the highlights of FFA Week is going to the State Capitol on President’s Day. “We’re excited to be able to speak with legislators and really tell some stories, and that will give almost 200 FFA members and over 70 chapters to share their stories with their legislators.”
Thompson says one of the important topics brought up during discussions with lawmakers was funding for agricultural careers and technical student organizations. He says Wisconsin is one of just nine states where agricultural education is not part of the state budget.
