Wisconsin Pork Association Futurity Sale

The Wisconsin Pork Association hosted its’ Seventh Annual Futurity Sale on Saturday, April 11 at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds, Jefferson. Twenty-one Wisconsin porkproducers consigned 54 head of crossbred and purebred barrows and gilts to the sale. The sale averaged $250 per head sold. The top selling animal was a crossbred barrow consigned by Watson Family Farms, Edgerton. The barrow sold for $900, and was purchased by Noah Morris, Clinton.

Top placing barrow and gilt awards were presented as follows:

Both barrows and gilts purchased at the sale may qualify for premiums at Wisconsin county, district, and state shows. Only pigs sold throughthe sale are eligible for the premiums.

A youth educational skillathon was hosted before the sale. Topics included biosecurity, industry facts, and identification of breeds and tools used in the industry. Nearly 30 youth participated. Participants received giftcertificates to be used for the purchase of animals in the sale.
