Wisconsin whey protein plant sold

A Wisconsin dairy ingredients plant has been sold, and the new owners will expand its capacity.  Actus Nutrition, formerly known as Milk Specialties acquired the Foremost Farms Sparta, Wisconsin facility.

The Sparta site is the seventh Actus Nutrition production site in Wisconsin and will continue to make whey protein products.  Actus also plans to invest in the 99-thousand square foot facility to expand capacity and expand its offerings.

Both companies say this is a positive move for their longtime strategic partnership.

Actus Nutrition also has manufacturing plants in Minnesota, Nebraska, Illinois, Idaho, and California with corporate headquarters in Eden Prairie, Minnesota.  It is owned by the Butterfly private equity firm, which operates nearly a dozen food businesses including Rise Baking Company, MaryRuth Organics, and QDOBA.
