Wisconsin’s corn and soybean conditions decline
Mixed weather conditions in the last week across Wisconsin have led to a decline in the corn and soybean conditions ratings.
USDA says corn conditions are 71 percent good to excellent, down three percentage points from the previous week. Soybean conditions are 72 percent good to excellent, down seven percentage points.
Potato and winter wheat conditions remain unchanged from the previous week, at 91 percent good to excellent and 70 percent good to excellent, respectively.
The first cutting of alfalfa is 79 percent complete, ahead of last year, but behind average. The second cutting of alfalfa has started in limited areas. All hay conditions are rated 78 percent good to excellent, a decline from the previous week.
Wisconsin’s southern-most counties are low on moisture, while northern counties received significant precipitation in the last week, delaying fieldwork.
