Work on new state fair arena to start soon

The Missouri State Fair is getting a new indoor arena and work on the project is expected to start after the fair.

Missouri State Fair Executive Director Jason Moore says the new 150,000 square foot arena has been years in the making and “it will give us the ability to host regional and national events throughout the year.”

Ag Director Chris Chinn says the arena is one of many recent upgrades to the Missouri State Fairgrounds.

“Positioned between the historic swine barn and the new sheep pavilion, this new arena will anchor this corner of the fairgrounds and the purchase of additional acreage to the west will allow for even more growth, including additional camping spots in the future.”

The arena will be called the Governor Michael L. Parson Arena and is expected to be completed in 2026.
