WPS Farm Show is growing

Wisconsin’s largest farm show is growing even larger.

Matt Cullen with the WPS Farm Show tells Brownfield this year’s show needed more display space. “We’re adding a second outdoor exhibitor tent to be able to provide even more solutions and products for our guests to be able to see. That exhibitor tent will be right near the main entrance.”

Cullen says one reason why more space was needed is the number of first-time exhibitors. “We have 66 exhibitors that are taking part in their very first show this year. That’s a number that is a little bit larger than what we’ve seen.”

Cullen says he’s amazed by some of the technology that has come to the show in the last few years. “Instantanious scanning of plant leaves in the fields so that instead of sending samples out to be tested, you can get results, you know, right there in the field just in a matter of minutes so that’s one of the new solutions that I’ve seen. Irrigation solutions, as well.”

Cullen says the first show in 1961 at the former Brown County Veteran’s Memorial Arena in Green bay featured 25 exhibitors showing how electricity and tools like vacuum pumps, milk coolers, and silo unloaders could help farmers be more efficient.  This year, Cullen says more than 400 product and service providers from 21 states and three countries will be on hand. “We’ve got exhibitors from Canada that will be joining us at this year’s show, as well as an exhibitor that’s coming from Denmark.”

The 63rd Annual WPS Farm Show is held at the Experimental Aircraft Association grounds in Oshkosh, Wisconsin April 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.  Admission is free, but parking will cost $5.00.
