Wyffels manager optimistic for Iowa’s harvest season

A crop specialist says there’s a lot of optimism for corn and soybean harvest in Iowa.

Adam Ploog, western business unit manager for Wyffels Hybrids, says, “What a contradiction of two years. A year ago, we would have been talking about how dry it is. Now there has been ample rain almost everywhere, in fact a little too much in some spots, but I think the crop looks really good.”

He says some farmers have already been discussing options for the next growing season. “Starting to talk about next year,” Ploog said. “Obviously our sales season gets started here real soon. There have been a lot of seed reps and customers coming through wanting to talk about what’s new and what’s looking really good in their fields right now.”

Ploog spoke to Brownfield at the 2024 Farm Progress Show in Boone, Iowa.
