Young Farm Technology Days host preparing for future

One of the members of the Farm Technology Days host family has been busy this year, preparing for the event and for her own future.

Taren Close may still be in high school, but farm work and school work are also keeping her busy. “For my senior year of high school, I actually attended Chippewa Valley Technical College for agronomy management. I graduated with 51 college credits. I’m transferring those over to Iowa State to get a Bachelor’s degree in agronomy.”

And once school is done, Taren Close wants to move back to her home neighborhood to help the farmers. “I plan on coming back in this area and becoming a local agronomist because it’s a lot an older generation out here, so I just kind of want to come in and offer my services to the farmers around the area and hopefully then take over the farm from my dad.”

Of course, that last goal will take a while because parents Jamie and Renee Close are nowhere near ready to retire.

The Close family teamed up with Wade Asher next door at Chippewa Valley Music Festivals to host this year’s Farm Technology Days.  The event runs through Thursday afternoon.
