Young people have an impact on ag policy

A Warrick county Indiana farmer says he’s watching the state legislative session to see how it could impact young farmers.

Logan Springstun says several of the topics were discussed during the recent 2024 Indiana Farm Bureau Annual Meeting.

“They are all pretty relevant events of today in agriculture in Indiana,” he says. “One of the most challenging discussions we had was around energy, minimizing the loss of ag land, and protecting property rights.”

He says investments in ag youth programs make a difference.

“What our county boards and Indiana Farm Bureau has done years ago to support 4H and FFA to me, has driven a lot of the involvement in young farmers,” he says. “I just hope that county boards and Indiana Farm Bureau continue to support those organizations because those are the future.”

Springstun says he’s hopeful new ag policy can be implemented to create opportunities for young farmers.

He is also the winner of the 2024 Indiana Farm Bureau Discussion Meet.
