Zittergruen reflects on year serving as Iowa FFA’s State President

The outgoing state president of Iowa FFA says serving in her role over the past year has been a life-changing experience.
Chloe Zittergruen of Keswick says she never imagined she would be named Iowa FFA State President one year ago.
“It is truly a remarkable experience that is hard to put into words,” she said. “The impact you are able to have on people, but also the moments that you get to spend with your teammates in those long hours putting in time, but truly pouring into the members and giving back is what we are here for.”
The new state president for the coming year will be elected on Tuesday, and Zittergruen tells Brownfield her advice is to bond with, and embrace, the state leadership team.
“They are going to be your guidance and your voice of reason when maybe you question a step you make, or you’re having a low point in life, which everyone has,” she said. “So, your team will be your backbone and they are the greatest gift you will get throughout your year.”
She spoke to Brownfield on Monday morning at the 98th Iowa FFA Leadership Conference in Ames.
Zittergruen, the 2025 recipient of the Cyndi Young Scholarship presented by Brownfield, is currently studying agricultural communications at Iowa State University and plans to graduate next May. She says she’ll be a marketing and communications intern for Landus out of Des Moines later this summer.
More than 7,000 FFA members are expected to attend state convention this week.
