Bridging the gaps between Democrats and Republicans, urban and rural ag

Republican Representative Charlie Meier recently invited Democrat Representative Sonya Harper of Chicago to tour his farm and other agribusinesses in southern Illinois.

Meier tells Brownfield, “We must continue to work together to keep this industry going. Without that, Illinois would be in worse severe financial trouble than we are right now because this is our largest industry.”

After the tour, Meier showed interest in touring urban agriculture operations and the Chicago Board of Trade in Harper’s district.
