AMVAC insecticide offers yield advantage
Jim Lapin, AMVAC Chemical Marketing Manager, tells Brownfield it is an exciting time at his company. They are enhancing existing products while continuing to bring on and launch new products that give growers more choices and flexibility in their operations.
Lapin said farmers should not let the hybrid dictate the insect control or weed control strategy used on the farm. He said farmers are better off to pick the hybrid based on its ability to deliver the yield and design insect or weed control strategies around that hybrid.
Over the past decade, AMVAC has been looking at its granular insecticides used as a way to compliment on top of farmer’s traited hybrid. Lapin said AMVAC has an average almost 9-bushel yield advantage when using insecticide on top of traits.
“All Bt traits have demonstrated resistance somewhere in the field,” said Lapin. “Adding an insecticide protects refuge plants and a higher level of protection on root mass which ultimately results in higher yields.”
