Brownfield Coffee Stop lets farmers catch up on the economic outlook for ag

2013 Coffee StopsThursday morning’s Brownfield and Case IH Coffee Stop gave farmers a chance to pick the brain of a knowledgeable agricultural economist.  Vickie’s restaurant welcomed farmers and Case IH employees to hear Brownfield’s Meghan Grebner and ag econ expert, Chris Hurt from Perdue.

Hurt discussed numerous issues in the agriculture industry today including the debate over the Renewable Fuels Standard.  He talked about the current status the U.S. corn crop and the differences between this year’s crop and the poor crop of 2012.

Farmers also heard about the expectations for corn markets and how futures markets will play a role in determining corn prices as the season continues.

Free coffee and breakfast was enjoyed by everyone.  The final stop of the 2013 Coffee Stops will be tomorrow morning in Poseyville, Indiana at The Red Wagon Restaurant.
