CFIA finds no link between feed at PEDv
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency announced earlier this week that scientific testing confirmed no link could be found between feed containing blood plasma and the Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea virus cases in Canada.
According to a release from the agency, it will continue to analyze feed and feed ingredients, as well as epidemiological information gathered during the investigation, in order to verify that CFIA controls continue to protect Canadian livestock.
The report said the investigation also included sampling and testing of feed, plasma, and other feed ingredients from various Canadian and US sources associated with farms in Canada where PEDv has been detected. All results on the samples were negative for PEDv.
Twenty-seven cases of PEDv have been confirmed so far in Canada, with 24 of those found in Ontario since it was first found in the country in January.
