‘Bottom line, it’s made me a lot of money’
Herbicide resistance, biologicals, cover crops, nutrient management.
Those are just some of the topics shared at this year’s Iowa Soybean On-Farm Network Conference.
“The neat thing about the On-Farm Network is it was formed by farmers—the participants in the program are farmers,” says On-Farm Network director Pat Reeg. “We also have retailers and several industry partners all involved. But it’s got farmer oversight and farmers own the data.”
Farmers working with the Iowa Soybean Association On-Farm Network use precision agriculture tools and technology to improve efficiency, profitability and environmental stewardship.
“It’s been one of the best things I’ve ever participated in,” says Osage farmer Wayne Fredericks. “I’ve learned how to do trials on my own farm, learned how to gather information in a predictable and usable manner.
“Bottom line, it’s made me a lot of money by being a participant in the trials.”
