Cold wave to gradually ease next week across the Heartland; active weather pattern to ease, as well

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of below-normal temperatures from the Plains to the East Coast, while warmer-than-normal weather will prevail west of the Rockies.

Meanwhile, below-normal precipitation in southern sections of the Rockies and Plains, as well as much of the eastern half of the U.S., should contrast with wetter-than-normal weather in southern Florida, southern Texas, and an area stretching from the Pacific Coast to the northern half of the High Plains.
