A significant cool-off ahead for parts of the Heartland, centered from the northern Plains to the eastern Corn Belt

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for near- or above-normal temperatures nationwide, except for cooler-than-normal conditions in the Great Lakes and Northeastern States.

Meanwhile, near- or above-normal precipitation should occur nearly nationwide, except in parts of the south-central U.S., with the Intermountain West having the greatest likelihood of experiencing unusually wet weather.
