A drying trend ahead for the water-logged, wettest areas of Corn Belt, upper Midwest

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of above-normal rainfall from the southern Plains to the East Coast, including the lower Midwest, should contrast with drier-than-normal weather from the Pacific Northwest into the upper Midwest.

Meanwhile, near- or below-normal temperatures are ahead across the nation’s mid-section, including the mid-South, much of the Midwest, and portions of the Plains.  Hotter-than-normal conditions will cover the remainder of the country, such as the East, West, and northern High Plains.
