A very mild, mid-winter pattern to continue; welcome moisture for the Heartland

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of below-normal temperatures across the northern High Plains and the West, excluding the central and southern Rockies, while warmer-than-normal weather will dominate the central and eastern U.S.

Meanwhile, below-normal precipitation across the Deep South, from western and southern Texas to the southern Atlantic Coast, should contrast with wetter-than-normal conditions across the northern half   of the U.S. and much of the West.
