A warmer pattern ahead for the Heartland; showery days for the Plains, western Corn Belt

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of near- or above-normal temperatures from the Plains to the East Coast, while cooler-than-normal conditions will prevail in much of the West. 

Meanwhile, near- or above-normal precipitation across most of the country should contrast with drier-than-normal weather in Deep South Texas, parts of the Southwest, and from the central Appalachians into the Northeast.
