Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of near- or below-normal precipitation in much of the East and West should contrast with wetter-than-normal weather in northern New England and throughout the central U.S., including the Plains and upper Midwest.

Meanwhile, expect the likelihood of near- or above-normal temperatures nationwide, except for cooler-than-normal conditions in the Pacific Northwest and an area of the eastern U.S. centered on the mid-Atlantic, central Appalachians, and Ohio Valley.
