A gradual warming trend, west to east, across the Heartland; a drier pattern ahead for most

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of near- or below-normal temperatures in the East, while warmer-than-normal weather will prevail from the Pacific Coast to the Mississippi River. 

Meanwhile, near- or below-normal precipitation across most of the country should contrast with wetter-than-normal weather in southern Florida, northern New England, and the Pacific Northwest.
