An active pattern to continue across the Heartland; cooler to colder air on the move

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of above-normal temperatures across roughly the southern two-thirds of the U.S., while cooler-than-normal conditions will be confined to the North, from Washington into the upper Great Lakes region.

Meanwhile, below-normal precipitation from California to the southern half of the High Plains should contrast with wetter-than-normal weather throughout the North and from the Mississippi Valley to the Atlantic Coast.
