Weather
No major storms across the Heartland for the Thanksgiving Holiday weekend; sharply colder
Cold but relatively tranquil weather will dominate the U.S. during the next 5 days, aside from persistent snow squalls downwind of the Great Lakes. Weekend snow showers may affect a few areas, mainly from the northern Plains into parts of the mid-South and Midwest.
During the weekend into the first half of next week, freezes should extend as far south as northern Florida, while sub-0°F temperatures will be common in the north-central U.S.
However, cold conditions will gradually erode across much of the West, with above-normal temperatures returning within a few days.
Outside the Great Lakes snow-belt areas, significant precipitation will be scarce, with 5-day rainfall topping an inch only in parts of southern Texas.
