More of an unseasonably cool, wet pattern ahead that dominates much of the Heartland

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of near- or below-normal temperatures east of the Rockies, except for hotter-than-normal weather across the Deep South. Heat will also dominate the western U.S.

Meanwhile, near- or below-normal precipitation west of the Rockies should contrast with wetter-than-normal conditions in most areas from the Plains into the mid-South, Midwest, and Northeast.
