Brownfield Ag Weather Today

A slow-moving, energetic storm system currently arriving in the Northwest will traverse the western U.S. during the weekend.  By early next week, the storm’s moisture-laden cold front will extend from the upper Great Lakes States to the southern Plains.  Thereafter, precipitation associated with the storm system and its trailing cold front will begin to fizzle, although significant rain could spread as far east as the mid-South and the lower Ohio Valley.  Five-day rainfall totals should reach 2 to 6 inches from northern Texas into parts of Michigan and Wisconsin.  However, a sharp precipitation gradient will result in ongoing dryness in areas to the east and west, including the Atlantic Coast States and the northern High Plains.  In the West, unsettled, showery weather will be replaced by drier conditions early next week, although rain and snow showers may linger in a few areas.
