Brownfield Ag Weather Today

A complex storm system evolving across the eastern half of the U.S. will result in active weather during the first half of the week.  Early- to mid-week rainfall could total 2 to 4 inches along the Gulf Coast from southeastern Louisiana to western Florida, extending northeastward through the middle Atlantic States into New England.  However, significant rainfall will bypass Florida’s peninsula.  A sharp cold wave outbreak will trail the rain, with mid- to late-week snow squalls expected downwind of the Great Lakes.  Like last week, temperatures could fall to 32°F or below as far south as the northern tier of Florida.  On Thursday morning, temperatures ranging from -10 to -20°F should occur in the Red River Valley of the North, while sub-0°F readings may extend as far south as Iowa.  Elsewhere, a generally dry weather pattern across the western and central U.S. may begin to break down during the second half of the week, with a couple of rounds of light precipitation possible in the West and some rain and snow possible by Friday in the Midwest.
