Brownfield Ag Weather Today

A winter storm will unfold across the South on January 9-10, with accumulations of snow and ice expected to cause significant travel disruptions and possible power outages from northeastern Texas into the Tennessee Valley and southern Appalachians.  Storm-total rainfall should total 1 to 3 inches or more across the Deep South, excluding Florida’s peninsula.  Although the storm system will depart the middle Atlantic Coast on Saturday, another surge of cold air will follow.  Late in the weekend, temperatures will again dip to 32°F or below as far south as northern Florida, well north of the citrus belt.  Meanwhile in the West, precipitation in New Mexico and environs will end by Friday, just as a new round of storminess arrives in the Pacific Northwest and northern Rockies.  Southern California’s threat of new or rapidly spreading wildfires will persist at least through Thursday, with additional concerns possible next week.
