Brownfield Ag Weather Today

A storm system currently traversing northwestern Mexico will join forces with a disturbance crossing the northern U.S., leading to volatile weather over the next couple of days. Later Tuesday, there will be a significant threat of severe thunderstorms from Texas into the lower Great Lakes region. The severe-weather threat will shift eastward on Wednesday before crossing the southern Atlantic Coast on Thursday. Storm-total rainfall should reach 1 to 2 inches in many locations along and east of a line from central Texas to Wisconsin, with higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. Somewhat lower totals may occur along and near the Atlantic Coast, as the storm’s trailing cold front begins to weaken. Parts of the northern U.S. will experience periods of snow, as colder air interacts with a parade of Pacific disturbances. Temperatures will fall below 20°F at times across the North, with even colder air arriving during the weekend. Elsewhere, dry weather will prevail during the next 5 days across much of the nation’s southwestern quadrant.
