Brownfield Ag Weather Today

Starting later Friday, a severe weather outbreak in advance of a strong cold front should result in numerous reports of wind damage and large hail from the Great Lakes States to central Texas. As the cold front shifts eastward, the severe weather threat may linger into late Saturday, primarily in the Ohio Valley. A significant surge of cold air will trail the front. During the weekend, freezes should occur along and northwest of a line from the northern panhandle of Texas to Lake Huron. Temperatures near or slightly below 20°F may reach as far south as the central High Plains. In portions of the Great Lakes and Northeastern States, freezes will linger into early next week. Due to antecedent warmth, the upcoming cold wave could threaten a variety of crops, including blooming fruits and jointing to heading winter wheat. Elsewhere, negligible precipitation will occur during the next 5 days in the southern Atlantic States and across the western half of the U.S., aside from rain and snow showers early next week in parts of the Pacific Coast States.
