Brownfield Ag Weather Today

Disturbances, currently affecting the “corners” of the Lower 48 States, will maintain an active weather pattern during the next few days. Interestingly, the Eastern disturbances will merge, perpetuating showery conditions in New England through Friday. Meanwhile, the Southwestern disturbance will remain weak, generating some wind and cloudiness, but little precipitation. However, the compact but powerful storm system currently arriving in the Northwest will drift eastward near the U.S.-Canadian border before reaching western Ontario on Friday. Impacts related to the that system should include a broad swath of high winds across the northwestern and north-central U.S.; a pre-storm surge of warmth that will lead to temperatures topping 90°F later today as far north as Montana and toward week’s end in parts of the western Corn Belt; and an elevated wildfire threat in advance of scattered showers. A second Northwestern storm will trail the first, reaching the northern Pacific Coast late Friday or early Saturday. Thunderstorms in advance of the trailing system could become severe over the weekend in portions of the Plains and Midwest.
