Brownfield Ag Weather Today

Tropical Storm Lala, currently centered less than 500 miles east-southeast of Hilo, Hawaii, is expected to become a hurricane before passing over, or just south, of the Big Island on Saturday. Storm-total rainfall should reach 8 to 12 inches (with isolated totals greater than 20 inches) on Maui and the Big Island, while the remainder of the Hawaiian Islands could receive 4 to 6 inches or more. Other impacts related to Lala may include damaging winds and a 1- to 3-foot storm surge. For the mainland U.S., active weather will continue in the Midwest, with 5-day rainfall totals reaching 1 to 3 inches or more. In contrast, drier conditions will develop during the weekend, with lingering showers mostly limited to the Rockies. Elsewhere, stormy weather in the nation’s mid-section will extend as far south as the central Plains, while hot, mostly dry weather will persist from the southern Plains to the Mississippi Delta.
