Brownfield Ag Weather Today

Odds are increasing that Hurricane Lowell will result in adverse weather conditions—including high winds, heavy rain, and a storm surge—across Hawaii’s western populated islands, Lihue and Niihau, near the end of Labor Day weekend. Lowell is not expected to make landfall but should pass just to the west of Lihue and Niihau. Meanwhile, hot weather will prevail through the weekend and into next week from the southern half of the Plains into middle and lower Mississippi Valley, although slightly cooler air will overspread the Southeast. Cooler conditions will also develop from the northern Plains into the middle Atlantic and Northeastern States. In the West, scattered showers will accompany autumn-like temperatures, with the heaviest precipitation (1 to 2 inches or more during the next 5 days) expected in the northern Rockies. Similar rainfall totals should occur from northern Montana into the upper Great Lakes region, while 1- to 4-inch amounts are expected from the central Gulf Coast to the southern half of the Atlantic Coast. In contrast, little or no rain will from the central and southern Plains into the middle Mississippi Valley and the mid-South.
