Brownfield Ag Weather Today

A storm system traversing the Midwest will drift northeastward across eastern Canada during the weekend.  Storm-related impacts, including wind-driven snow in parts of the Midwest, severe thunderstorms across the South, and high winds across a broad area of the central and eastern U.S., will continue today into early Saturday.  A sharp cold outbreak trailing the departing storm will result in weekend temperatures below -30°F on the northern High Plains.  Readings should fall to 0°F or below early next week as far south as Texas’ northern panhandle and much of the Midwest.  By January 16-17, hard freezes (28°F or below) should occur as far south as the central Gulf Coast.  Additionally, wintry precipitation may occur in the Deep South during the early to middle part of next week.  Elsewhere, precipitation spreading inland across the West the next couple of days should be heaviest from Oregon and northern California to the central Rockies.
