Brownfield Ag Weather Today

A powerful low-pressure system drifting eastward across the central Plains continues to generate significant weather hazards across a large area.  For the remainder of Tuesday, an elevated wildfire threat will continue across the southern High Plains, while locally severe thunderstorms will shift from the Plains into the Midwest.  Additional snow will fall Tuesday in the central Rockies, while large sections of the Plains and Midwest will experience strong winds.  By mid-week, the storm system will turn northeastward toward the upper Great Lakes region and begin to weaken, although rain- and wind-related impacts will linger in the Midwest.  Subsequently, a trailing disturbance will produce late-week showers from the central and southern Plains into the East, while chilly air will spread across the northern U.S.  Late-week freezes could extend as far south as the central High Plains.  Elsewhere, generally dry weather will accompany a Western warming trend.
