Brownfield Ag Weather Today

Late Tuesday night or early Wednesday, Tropical Storm Ernesto will pass over or very close to Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands; storm-total rainfall is forecast to reach 3 to 6 inches or more, accompanied by tropical storm-force winds (39 mph or greater) and a storm surge of 1 to 3 feet.  However, Ernesto poses no threat to the mainland U.S.  Meanwhile, consistently hot weather will cover the nation’s southern tier, with triple-digit (100-degree) high temperatures expected to persist through the weekend in the south-central U.S. and the Desert Southwest.  Farther north, a progressive weather pattern— fast-moving disturbances racing eastward—will lead to periodic showers and thunderstorms.  Five-day rainfall totals could reach 1 to 3 inches or more in the Midwest, with lighter amounts expected in other areas.  Little or no rain will fall, however, in California and the Great Basin, as well as the south-central U.S.
